Welcome to ArmyArcherd.com
To misquote Jack Nicholson—“He-e-e-re's Army!”
And here's my answer to those of you who have flattered me with letters, faxes, phone calls, emails. And to those of you who have sidled up to me at preems, previews, parties, restaurants, yes, even at Gelson's or Neiman's and whispered, “We miss you.” Well, I've got news for you, after 52 years here, I missed you, too. So here we go—anew telling you what's new, and what's askew and maybe why so also. And now, you will be also be able to let me know your take.
How'd I get into this blogging bizness? Last month, Oct.31, to be exact, the L.A.Times' Golden State Columnist Michael Hiltzik headlined his column with “Experiment Starts Now: Call Me Blogger.” And when I showed his story to Variety's Alex Romanelli, Tim Doyle and Talia Ron they revealed to me, “We've already established the ArmyArcherd.Com domain." And Variety's Martha Hernandez has designed the format you're now looking at ... It and I are subject to change since this is a big change for me. But we hope you like it—and the content to come. The content below is stories I have filed for Daily Variety in recent weeks. Going forward, I'll be posting to this blog regularly.
As always, it will be true—my take or my report on what others have told me or done. I'll tell you where I've been, what I've seen and heard, yes, even tasted—and what I think of it all. This is not such a change for me—I've really been doing this all of my career and have spoken out when speaking out is called for.
Now you are a part of it. I'll avoid the obvious, like Paris Hilton items—unless she's cast in a remake of ”Gone With The Wind,” God forbid. See you soon, as they say in Vegas, “Hit me!”
